EAGAN, Minn. — Well, that was a wet one.

The Vikings held a split-squad practice Monday afternoon without any expected starters, who instead went through a session in the morning.

But the non-starters who practiced for a little more than an hour Monday endured rainy conditions.

Receiver Jeff Badet and cornerback Mike Hughes did not participate.

Hughes, who was removed from the PUP list Monday, went through warmups with the team before working on a side field.

Tackle Aviante Collins and Brian O’Neill did not participate in team periods.

Here are three observations from Monday afternoon’s session:

1. Rain, rain, go away

The less-than-ideal conditions led to a sloppy practice at times, with multiple botched snaps and dropped passes as players sometimes struggled to keep their balance on the grass.

Even special teams were affected, as holder Chad Beebe had a snap slip through his fingers on one attempt.

Kaare Vedvik handled the kicking duties Monday and made three of six attempts during team periods.

He was wide right from 33 yards before making a 37-yarder, but pushed his 41-yard attempt to the left.

Vedvik later came back for three more field goals, but his 36-yard attempt hit off the left upright. The first snap on that attempt was a redo since Beebe couldn’t hang onto the snap in the rain.

The specialist finished strong, however, with successful kicks from 42 and 45 yards.
