The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday they have signed OL Jaryd Jones-Smith and CB Teez Tabor to the team’s practice squad. The team also announced they have released OL Will Holden and OL Ryan Pope from the practice squad.
Jones-Smith (6-7, 345) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018. He was waived by the Texans on September 1, 2018. On April 9, 2019 he signed with the Miami Dolphins and was later waived by the team on August 31.
A 24-year-old native of Philadelphia, PA, Jones-Smith attended the University of Pittsburgh (2013-17) where he appeared in 33 games (13 starts).
Tabor (6-0, 201) was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. In two seasons with the Lions (2017-18), he appeared in 22 games (five starts) and registered 34 tackles. Last season, he saw action in 12 games (four starts) and finished with 23 tackles on defense to go along with five special teams tackles. He was waived by the Lions on August 31, 2019.
A 23-year-old native of Washington, D.C., Tabor attended the University of Florida. In three seasons with the Gators (2014-16), he played in 37 games (26 starts) and registered 104 tackles, 33 passes defensed, nine interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. As a junior in 2016, earned Third-Team All-America honors after starting 12 games and finishing with 33 tackles, six passes defensed, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), one sack and one fumble recovery.
Holden (6-7, 312) originally signed to the team’s practice squad on September 17, while Pope (6-7, 313) signed with the team on September 2.
