ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have elevated kicker Taylor Russolino and linebacker Josh Watson from their practice squad to theactive roster for Saturday's game against the Bills.
The team used a standard elevation on Russolino, while Watson was designated as a COVID-19 Replacement.
The Broncos are permitted to elevate a player to the active roster in place of kicker Brandon McManus, who was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday.
Russolino, who will be elevated to the active roster for the first time this season, will revert back to the team's practice squad after the game. Head Coach Vic Fangio said Thursday he expected Russolino to kick for the Broncos on Saturday.
"He kicked very well yesterday [Wednesday] in practice," Fangio said. "I was very encouraged by what he did in practice yesterday. If he kicks as good as he did yesterday in practice, we'll be fine."
Watson, meanwhile, will be elevated for the eighth time this season. He has been a COVID-19 Replacement on six of those occasions.
"The biggest thing and the No. 1 trait for the special teamers is being consistent," Special Teams Coordinator Tom McMahon said of Watson. "He doesn't do anything wrong. He does everything right. He prepares during the week and he knows the guy he's going to block in every role and he knows how to beat guys in coverage. The No. 1 thing is he is consistent. Some people call it boring, but everybody trusts him because he does everything right. That's what he's brought to our unit."
