Broncos place Courtland Sutton, Dre'Mont Jones on injured reserve

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have officially placed wide receiver Courtland Sutton and defensive end Dre'Mont Jones on injured reserve.


Head Coach Vic Fangio announced on Tuesday that Sutton would miss the remainder of the 2020 season. Sutton suffered a knee injury while making a tackle following an interception during Denver's Week 2 game against the Steelers.


Fangio said Jones was expected to miss "significant time," which he estimated to be about four weeks. Under the NFL's new injured reserve rules, players are permitted to return from IR to the active roster after three weeks.


Jones would first be eligible to return to the field for the Broncos' Week 6 game against Miami.


Sutton and Jones join Von Miller and A.J. Bouye as players who have been placed on injured reserve since the start of the regular season. Miller is potentially out for the season, while Bouye is expected to return to the field. He is eligible to return for the team's Week 5 game in New England.


Following the moves, the Broncos' active roster sits at 51 players.


Two other players whom Fangio said are expected to miss several weeks — quarterback Drew Lock (shoulder) and defensive end DeMarcus Walker (calf) — remain on the active roster.
