ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Wide receiver Courtland Sutton (shoulder) will not practice Friday, according to Head Coach Vic Fangio via a pool report.
Sutton, who suffered the injury during Thursday's practice, is day to day, according to Fangio.
Fangio told ESPN's Jeff Legwold, who gathered the quotes as the team's pool reporter, that the Broncos think Sutton will be able to participate in practice on Saturday in a limited capacity ahead of the team's game on Monday.
Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur said the team would have to "see where that goes" in regards to Sutton's injury.
"He's a tough player and I think Coach [Fangio] will talk to you about his injury and where it goes," Shurmur said, "but you never want to see a player get hurt, especially in practice and especially in a non-competitive situation, like it was."
If Sutton cannot play Monday against the Titans, Shurmur said rookie Jerry Jeudy may see an increased role.
"With regard to Jerry Jeudy, he was going to be part of the plan anyway," Shurmur said. "… Let's say that Courtland doesn't make it for whatever reason, then the whole group has got to kind of share the load. That's the way it has always been and always will be. These kind of things are part of our game, so they've got to be ready to go. We're preparing him to play anyway, so he may just have to take a few more snaps. Other guys will fill in, as well."
In addition to the update on the Broncos' No. 1 receiver, Fangio also revealed that outside linebacker Von Miller underwent surgery on Friday.
Miller suffered an ankle injury on Tuesday and is potentially out for the entire 2020 season.
"He had surgery [Friday] morning and I was told it went well, and we'll see how it goes," Fangio said. "They haven't said anything on a timetable based on his surgery, that will depend on the healing."
Miller remains on the active roster, but Fangio previously indicated he will be placed on injured reserve.
