Following the Week 8 win over the Carolina Panthers, Kyle Shanahan is spending more time at the office this week. San Francisco’s head coach admitted to the media on Tuesday he’s spent time sleeping on the couch in his office to prepare for the Thursday night contest against the Arizona Cardinals. Much of San Francisco’s staff will be working late nights ahead of the short turnaround in Arizona, including the 49ers training staff who anticipate the return of several key players in the coming weeks. Here are a few updates from the 49ers head coach ahead of “Thursday Night Football.”

It's worth noting the 49ers will swap their typical early-afternoon practice to 5 p.m - the time of Thursday night's kickoff. The team will simulate the same feel of Thursday's contest under the lights of Levi’s® Stadium.

Given the shortened week, Joe Staley remains doubtful ahead of the primetime matchup. The tackle was limited in the 49ers lone practice of the week. While there is “still a chance” he could be on hand against the Cardinals, Shanahan feels “very good” about the veteran tackle’s return ahead of the Monday night clash against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10.

"Without us having a full-speed practice, it's going to be tough to simulate some stuff here in this day and a half," Shanahan said. "We'll see how he feels. I put him more in 'doubtful,' but there's still a chance."

In addition to Staley, Shanahan also expects Mike McGlinchey (knee) and Kyle Juszczyk (knee) to return during the Week 10 divisional matchup.

As far as San Francisco’s practice report for Tuesday, McGlinchey, Juszczyk, Ahkello Witherspoon (foot) and Levine Toilolo (groin) are non-participants. Raheem Mostert (knee, quad) and Matt Breida (ankle) add to the list of 49ers who are not on hand on Tuesday. According to the head coach, Mostert suffered a knee injury during the Week 8 win over the Panthers. Meanwhile, the head coach believes if the 49ers played today, Breida would not likely dress. However Shanahan remains optimistic that Breida will be available on Thursday.

In addition to Staley, rookie Justin Skule (knee, foot) and Dee Ford (quad) are also limited.
