INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- The Cardinals lost starting quarterback Kyler Murray after one possession of their win-or-go-home game against the Rams Sunday after he hurt his ankle while being sacked.
He came back in in the fourth quarter with 14:25 left, with the Cardinals trailing, 18-7. He was unable to put any more points on the board in the defeat.
Murray was questionable to return, but after going to the locker room and returning briefly, he went back into the locker room with the game in the first quarter. He returned to the sideline riding a stationary bike, but Streveler remained at quarterback.
Murray, who had hurt his right lower leg last week, looked good on his first carry, picking up eight yards. But on a sack by Morgan Fox, he came up limping. He had one rush for seven yards and completed 1-of-2 passes for seven yards when he was hurt.
Murray's final totals had him completing 8-of-11 passes for 87 yards, and rushing for three yards on two carries.
"Right now it doesn't really matter how my ankle feels," he said after the Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs, adding later, "not being able to play the majority of the game sucks."
