Vikings ranked 14th in NFL.com's power rankings
There are still five-plus months to go until the 2020 season is scheduled to kick off in early September.
And while there is much to be done until then, Dan Hanzus of NFL.com recently released an offseason version of his power rankings after the first wave of free agency.
Hanzus slotted the Vikings in the 14th spot, which was down three places from when he last put out power rankings after the Super Bowl.
Hanzus wrote:
Trading a 26-year-old star receiver coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons is never easy, but the Vikings did what they had to do with Stefon Diggs. So they flipped the playmaker to the Bills for four draft picks, including a first-rounder. That's more than acceptable compensation for an excellent wideout who's still probably a pace or two behind the true elites at his position. The win-now Vikings have 12 draft picks next month, including two in the first round at Nos. 22 and 25 overall. A Diggs replacement and a cornerback (or three) are on the menu.
Minnesota acquired four draft picks (a first, fifth and sixth in 2020, plus a 2021 fourth-rounder) in exchange for Diggs and a 2020 seventh-round selection.
The Vikings were the seventh-highest NFC team listed behind the 49ers, Saints, Packers, Seahawks, Eagles and Cowboys.
Green Bay was ranked fifth, while Chicago was 22nd and Detroit was 28th.
