While the COVID-19 pandemic has kept Green Bay Packers players from participating in the traditional American Family Insurance DreamDrive bike experience with young Packers fans this year, several rookie players still had the special opportunity to take their first DreamDrive ride today, traveling to practice from Lambeau Field on brand new Schwinn bicycles.
The Packers rookies rode the bikes of varying sizes over to Ray Nitschke Field, and autographed the bikes following their rides.
Eight of the autographed bikes will be donated to local charities to be used as auction items to raise money for their causes. The benefitting charities will be announced at a later date.
Two of the autographed bikes, one adult and one kid bike, will be part of a fan sweepstakes presented by American Family Insurance from Sept. 10-24, offering Packers fans the chance to win the bikes.
The Packers and American Family Insurance have partnered on DreamDrive since 2014, with the specially designed bike experience for Packers fans and families at training camp centered on the storied tradition of Packers players riding children's bikes to and from practice. The Packers and the Madison-based insurance company have been partners since 2005.
Schwinn, a Wisconsin-based company, is proud to assist two prominent Wisconsin organizations to help continue this long-time Packers tradition.
The Packers and American Family Insurance have also honored DreamDrive and the bike riding tradition by posting flashback photos throughout Packers Training Camp on the team's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
