GREEN BAY – The Packers’ offense was in high gear all day, and the defense got a couple of timely stops near the goal line as Green Bay beat Oakland, 42-24, on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
With the win, the Packers improved to 6-1 and remained in first place in the NFC North. The Raiders fell to 3-3.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw five touchdown passes for the first time since 2015 (vs. Kansas City) and he finished with a maximum 158.3 passer rating for the first time in his career, throwing for 429 yards on 25-of-31 passing. Rodgers also had a rushing touchdown, so he was directly involved in all six Green Bay scores. It was Rodgers’ ninth career 400-yard passing game (including playoffs), and the 429 yards ranks fourth on that list.
The five TD receptions were turned in by five different players. WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling had two catches for 133 yards, including a 74-yard score in the fourth quarter that put the game away.
TE Jimmy Graham added four catches for 65 yards and a TD, WR Jake Kumerow had two grabs for 54 yards, including a 37-yard TD just before halftime, and both RBs, Aaron Jones (4-33) and Jamaal Williams (4-26) had a TD catch. Jones had 50 yards rushing on 12 attempts to lead the ground game.
For the Raiders, QB Derek Carr was 22-of-28 for 293 yards with two TDs, one INT and a 119.2 passer rating. Carr made two huge mistakes with the Raiders threatening to score, once fumbling out of bounds through the end zone late in the first half for a touchback, and then throwing an interception to CB Kevin King in the end zone.
In between those two turnovers, the Packers got a turnover on downs by stopping the Raiders on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line early in the fourth quarter.
TE Darren Waller had seven receptions for 126 yards and two TDs for Oakland, while RB Josh Jacobs had 21 carries for 124 yards.
