Panthers roster hopefuls reflect as they await their fate

RB Elijah Holyfield: “I put it all out there, so now I just sit back and wait and know it’s out of my hands now. I just control what I can control. … First game I was so nervous I could barely see, and then as you get out there you kind of get used to it. … I’m not feeling any type of way. I’m just controlling what I can control and not trying to think about it too much. I did all I can do, and now it’s just time to see what happens.”


The undrafted rookie finished the preseason with three total touchdowns -- two receiving and one rushing. He had 19 rushes for 79 yards.


DE Efe Obada: “We’ll just wait and see, you know? I have no regrets. I feel like I made improvements. If I have the opportunity to be on this team I am going to be a factor. That’s it. I felt my weakness was run game and I really developed that. Rushing the passer is constantly something to work on. But I’ll be in the moment, rest up and wait till I know.”


Obada finished the preseason with nine tackles and 0.5 sacks. He was more disruptive than those numbers indicate, especially in the last two games.


CB Cole Luke: “I guess we’ll see. My plan coming into camp was to give it my all and finish with no regrets. Obviously, it could always be better and it could always be worse. I left it all out there and that was my main goal. It took a little time to adjust after moving around a bit the past three years. But overall it went pretty well. I’ve done everything I could. I’m not going to fuss about it. My first year in the league I was stressing like crazy. I realized there is nothing else you can do. Everything you’ve already done is going to provide the outcome.”


Luke finished with five tackles and one pass defensed.


RB Reggie Bonnafon: “I’ve got some family in town, so I’ll be relaxing. I’ll let the rest take care of itself. At this point, I feel like I left it all out on the field. I put in a lot of work. I feel confident in that. Whatever their decision is, I’ll be fine with it.”


Bonnafon finished with 11 rushes for 51 yards and 13 catches for 139 yards.
