EAGAN, Minn. — An additional pair of Vikings coaches will not return for the 2021 season, the team announced Friday.

The contracts of Senior Defensive Assistant Dom Capers and Director of Competition Development Mark Uyeyama are expiring and will not be renewed.

Capers joined Minnesota before the 2020 season, which was his 34th overall season in the NFL.

The 70-year-old entered the league in 1986, spending five seasons as the Saints defensive backs coach. He then spent the ensuing 15 seasons as a head coach or defensive coordinator, earning a reputation as one of the league's top defensive minds. Capers also holds the distinction of being the first head coach of two different expansion teams (Panthers and Texans).

And after spending the 2008 season in New England, Capers spent the next nine seasons as the defensive coordinator in Green Bay. Capers took 2018 off before spending the 2019 season with the Jaguars.
