CHARLOTTE – Teddy Bridgewater is inactive for Sunday's game with the Lions, making way for P.J. Walker to make his first NFL start.
Bridgewater, who came into Sunday as a game-time decision with a right knee injury he suffered late in last week's loss to the Buccaneers, went through two on-field workouts pregame. The second one was closely watched by the likes of head coach Matt Rhule, offensive coordinator Joe Brady, quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz, owner David Tepper and multiple athletic trainers.
Meanwhile, the Panthers will be missing two starters on the offensive line. Left tackle Russell Okung (calf) and right guard John Miller (knee/ankle) were both listed as doubtful and will be replaced by Trent Scott and Dennis Daley, respectively.
A shoulder injury will keep running back Christian McCaffrey out for a second straight game, giving Mike Davis his eighth start of the season.
Defensively, cornerback Donte Jackson is out with his troublesome turf toe, so fourth-round pick Troy Pride Jr. will start across from Rasul Douglas. Safety Sam Franklin will also miss the game with an ankle injury, likely putting Juston Burris back as a starter.
