Go with the hot hand: With wins against the Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, and Minnesota Vikings, the Bears are now tied for the longest winning streak in the NFC, which currently only has one undefeated team (the San Francisco 49ers, who did not play this past weekend). With every other team in the NFC North losing, one at the hands of the Bears, the team is now tied with the Green Bay Packers for the division lead.
Stifling defense: The Bears’ defense has allowed the second-fewest points per game in the league with 11.3, trailing only the New England Patriots. The defense has generated more negative yardage (-168) than any other team and has not allowed a run of more than 20 yards in any of the first four games. Stopping the run has been key to this dominance, as the team has allowed the third-fewest rushing yards per game (61.5).
Get off the field: The Bears are tied with the Patriots for the league’s best turnover margin (+6). They are tied for third in total takeaways (8) and second for takeaways in the red zone (2). The Bears have also helped themselves with the less flashy way of getting off the field: the team is tied for the third-best third-down percentage (27.1).
